In Vitro Biological Activity of Three Marine Sponges From Theonella and Haliclona Genera Collected From Bidong Island, Terengganu, Malaysia

Marine sponges are primitive sessile animals that rich sources of biologically active compounds. This paper aimed to assess the in-vitro biological activity marine from Theonella and Haliclona genera collected Bidong Island, Terengganu, Malaysia. Biological activities such as antibacterial (discs diffusion assay), antioxidant (DPPH free-radical scavenging cytotoxicity (against cancerous HeLa, MCF-7, HepG-2 cell lines normal line Vero) were evaluated using MTT assay. The bioassays done on methanol extracts at different concentrations. Results indicate T. swinhoei, cf cupola showed low capabilities ranging 0 50 mg/mL exhibited medium with IC50 value 23.25 ± 1.57 18.52 0.86 mg/mL, respectively.
